Just getting back on air after seven year lay off.
My garden is only 30ft by 30ft. I can't use a vertical because of restrictions. Would I have sufficient room to get a random longwire up. The max hieght I can get is approx 20ft at the house and 10ft at bottom of garden, if so would a slopping vee formation work. This would effectivly double the length of wire to 60 ft will this load up on top band. My ATU is a Kenwood AT230. My radio is a Kenwood TS430S. I'll be grateful for any advice

Best way to find out is put one up and try it! what works in one location may not work in another.

I'd be tempted to try a full size G5RV in the 'inverted V' arrangement, you could also connect this as a 'doublet' or even a 'Marconi T' centre fed long wire if you must have 160m. Cheap and cheerful but it would get you on the air! ;)

My garden is 30 feet wide by 38 feet long.

I have a 40m horizontal loop fed with 75 Ohm twin-lead and a 4:1 Current Balun. This just about fits around the perimeter of the garden, using some creativeness.

Works on 40m and above with my LDG Auto Tuner.

However, I have just purchased a Force 12 Sigma-5 vertical for 20m and above. It's only 10 feet tall, needs no ground radials and can be mounted in a bucket of cement! How restrictive are your restrictions?

Good luck!
