Hi there and HNY.

THE expert in all things old and Yaesu is Harry Leeming, G3LLL.

Look at http://www.pwpublishing.ltd.uk/

He still writes articles and, certainly not very long ago, does repairs.

A little bit of history there.

Cheers

What version is your FT-101? The AC/DC inverter is designed to work from 13.5V DC on the UK FT-101ZD, but some other versions were wired for 24V DC. Either way if the internal PSU is working it should be OK, unless someone has been messing with that as well. I have circuit diagrams for the FT-101ZD and you can also find these online from several sites, or as Tony said, a quick call to Harry G3LLL.

Just use the schematic diagram to follow the wires from point to point with your DVM or continuity checker, as the colours may be different from model to model. If all else fails, try Harry G3LLL for some advice:

The other thing to look for is the acc plug on the rear of the rig, this enables things like the external VFO and Transverters to be powered. The rig will not operate without this plug being correctly wired. If it is OC then you will get the Rx working and maybe the heaters but will not go into operate properly (no plate current).

AC plug is there..
the rig at the time being is dead, apart from the fan..
when i switch on the heaters they start to glow..

i am going to wire the AC/DC inverter tonight, even if for my own piece of mind..
then i might just whip the PS board out and check that..i was given another with the set..so a possible hint..??
