Hi

Paul

well the last thing you do with a problem like this is change service providers if its a line problem or pc problem it moves with you.

1 what service do you have adslmax ?
2 whats your line lenght
3 s/n ratio
4 sync rate

Cheers

I,m with orange and never have any problems with them.As said it could be a line fault or adsl filter thats naff. But if you getting noise on your phone line then it sounds like line fault.

Disconnect your modem/router and see if the noise is still present. If so then it is a BT voice problem so call them.

If the noise goes away when the router is disconnected it can be one of two things - a duff filter or a line fault. To sort out which only have one phone connected at a time. If there is noise audible with both phone/filter pairs then a filter fault is unlikely as they are pretty reliable and to have two faulty is unlikely.

If still unsolved it only leaves a line fault - the way this sort of fault is caused is by a bad joint which rectifies the adsl signal and then you can hear it. To get an ADSL fault fixed you have to report it through the ISP. Unfortunately Orange are one of the many ISPs that employ cheap call takers on their support lines rather than people with any technical ability so you may have problems getting them to accept this is a line fault.
