I was thinking along similar lines the other evening, about the amount of gear being advertised as only being owned for a few weeks, and the excuses given for the reason for sale.

eg. "Too Complicated" or "Upgrading" or "I prefer Y brand to X brand"

This started me wondering how many of these sets have been bought on the "Never Never"?? How many people buy sets on credit only to sell them very shortly afterward? Not having bought a radio on credit before what problems would a buyer of a radio from a site like this face if he bought a radio that had been purchased on HP and it was sold before the original owner had cleared the outstanding balance? Surely the radio is the property of the finance company until the outstanding balance is cleared? As with cars bought on finance agreements.

I had a Yaesu FT80c, the commercial version of the FT747GX. An excellent radio too!

I think it is an excellent radio. I agree with comments on here about users perhaps not taking time to read instructions and/or not setting up the set properly.

There are lots of things that can be adjusted to suit the individual operator and the conditions. Take the time to do this and you will be pleased with the results.

Hi

I have wondered about this radio infact I almost bought one.

It does make me wonder when I see reviews saying menu driven radio I can`t understand it.

I bet the same people could not set up a VCR to record. Then they write a review on a radio they do not understand.

Please put the mic down pack up the radio put it in the spare room with the exercise bike, metal detector, part built airfix models and go watch dancing on ice with your wife.

I have even seen a review of a ft 950 saying its a rubbish radio because the power setting is in a menu.

Why did I not get a ft450 you can`t use the narrow filters in dig mode.

If you could there would be one sitting here now.

Cheers

Paul
