706 mk1 hf output power fault.

Has anyone come across this on a mk1 706,everything was fine until today i noticed the radio would not drive properly on hf/ssb and when i connected a dummy load it would not power more than 20 watts through out hf and no real drive when monitoring the alc meter?
Vhf is fine power wise and alc/ssb on vhf,are hf and vhf on seperate output systems, ive a feeling a driver or transitor is down on the hf side any advice would be welcome and what could be the cost implications on repair if it is worth it,i would like to have it repaired as i like the radio
Regards Mark.

maybe it would of been better putting it in the radio discussion section as there may be lots of people who could help but dont own an icom so would not look here..

id say it was the wiffle waffle thats in series with the flu flu valve .. that or the radio is shagged

Re: 706 mk1 hf output power fault.

Can be caused by transmitting out of Amateur bands.

Not suggesting you have done this but it is a sure fire way of damaging the IC706 especially if it has been used between 30-50 mhz.l
